Bundaberg Community Action for a Multicultural Society Program

Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) Program (funded by the Multicultural Affairs Queensland (MAQ), within the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services).

This program is aimed to help you:

  • Connect with other people in your community.
  • Engage in skills training opportunities.
  • Share your culture.
  • Learn about Australian culture.
  • Establish a social community group.
  • Become involved in community activities.
  • Initiate a community project.
  • Express your concerns to government.
  • Advocate for your community.

The Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) initiative is a partnership strategy between the Queensland State Government and community organisations to promote multiculturalism. The CAMS Program multicultural community worker undertakes systemic and group advocacy and community capacity building activities for the benefit of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  CAMS aims to help achieve:

  • equitable access for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to services and programs that respond to their needs
  • equitable participation by people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in community life - including educational, economic, political, social and cultural activities.
