The Bundaberg & District Neighbourhood Centre is located in the Historical Kenalwyn House at 111 Targo Street, Bundaberg

We are funded by Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services to provide services and support to the community of Bundaberg.

The Centre is a well established community organisation incorporated in 1992 and is an information referral service with strong interagency connections within the community and offers a variety of community support programs.

We also have an extensive range of community support services information available.

Tax Help Program

The 2017 Tax Help Program is open.  Our wonderful volunteers make this service possible for our community - the Bundaberg & District Neighbourhood Centre facilitates the Tax Help Program in conjunction with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) between 1st July and 31st October each year.

The CAMS multicultural community worker undertakes systemic and group advocacy and community capacity building activities for the benefit of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Community Action for a Multicultural Society - CAMS Bundaberg - Survey

We are currently running a survey for all migrants in the Bundaberg area. It's anonymous and takes 3-5 min. The results will help us plan and improve future actions and support services accessible for migrants in our region. Please click here

Bundaberg Migrant Settlement Services Program 

Bundaberg Migrant Settlement Services (formerly Settlement Grants Program) operates from the Bundaberg Neighbourhood Centre offering a referral and advocacy service to eligible new migrants within the Bundaberg area, Gin Gin and Childers.

Speech and Occupational Therapy Program
 

The Program aims to widen the educational options and increase participation in educational settings of primary and secondary school-aged children with moderate to severe disabilities. Eligible students are those attending Catholic and Independent schools in Bundaberg. The program provides Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy to the children, and support to their parents and teachers.

No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)

This Program provides no-interest loans up to the value of $1,200.00 to low-income individuals and families, for the purchase of basic household items. Loans for items such as household appliances, furniture, education items or medical aids are considered for eligible clients. Conditions apply.

Adult Literacy and Numeracy Program

The programs tutors endeavor to help participants to learn and improve their Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills to a standard that will support them to seek employment and improve their community involvement.

Energy Savvy Families Program

Ergon, QCOSS, Citysmart and the Queensland Government presented Energy Savvy Families in early 2017. This program offered eligible participants a digital meter, monthly bills, online access to the Reduce your Juice app and Ergon's HomeSmart portal and One-on-One Support. As the Local Program Champions, we are facilitating the second stage of this program now.

Facilities available for hire

Meeting Rooms

The Centre boasts three meeting rooms for conferences and workshops, two kitchens, full amenities and office space on an ad hoc basis for services. Two of our meetings rooms can also be converted into one larger room by retracting a concertina wall. There is also parking with disability access at the rear of the building.

Playground

There is a fully secure playground area at the rear of the centre which can be utilised by playgroups, private party hire and organisations hiring the meeting rooms who have young clients and visitors. 

Mobile Playvan

We also have available one of Playgroup Queensland's mobile playvans.    Currently, the Playvan is at Alexandra Park Tuesday and Friday mornings through Bundaberg and District Neighbourhood Centre supported playgroups.  If you are part of a playgroup or child-based organisation that might want to use these facilities, please call or come to see us at the Centre.
